Quilting is a sewing method that stitches together layers of fabric to create a padded effect. It has become a trademark of Chanel over the decades. Two of the most timeless quilting styles are diamond and chevron quilting, each offering a unique look to complement your bag and outfit.

Diamond quilting first appeared with the launch of the iconic Chanel 2.55 bag, the first handbag featuring long straps that allowed it to be worn hands-free. The stitching always consists of a full number of diamonds and is believed to be inspired by equestrian riding gear. Coco Chanel, a passionate horse rider since the 1910s, was introduced to this style by Étienne Balsan. Some also suggest that the diamond stitching was a nod to the stained-glass windows of the Aubazine orphanage where she spent her childhood.

Chevron traditionally features a repeating zigzag pattern, Chanel has adapted this motif into a single "V" formation for its bags. The bold, angular lines create an illusion of depth and movement, giving the design a sleek, modern, and edgy appeal. It’s an ideal choice for those who favor contemporary fashion.
